General Theater

Are food and beverage services available and allowed into the Theatre?
Yes, concession stations are available in the lobby areas of the Theatres. Food and beverages are allowed into the Theatres depending on the type of show.

What is the appropriate dress for attending the Theatre?
Most patrons wear "business attire" (men: coat and tie; ladies dresses or pant suits) although there is no specific dress code for the Wang and Shubert Theatres.

Do The Wang and Shubert Theatre each have an elevator?
The Wang Theatre is equipped with an elevator available in the Grand Lobby with accessibility to the fourth floor and has a chair lift installed for access to the Lower Lobby. The Shubert Theatre does not have an elevator; however, an accessible unisex bathroom is located off the Main Lobby.

Where can I park?
There are several parking lots located near the Theatres: The Fitz-Inn Lot on Kneeland Street; the Tremont Street Garage adjacent to The Wang Theatre; the Radisson Hotel on Stuart Street; CityPlace Garage in Park Square; the Kinney Motor Mart on Stuart Street Street and the Garage at 100 Clarendon on Clarendon Street. Members of The Club receive discounted parking at the Garage @100 Clarendon

What restaurants are in the area?

How do I get to The Wang and Shubert Theatres?
The Wang Theatre is located at 270 Tremont Street and The Shubert Theatre is located directly across the street at 265 Tremont Street. Both Theatres are located in the heart of Boston's Theater District. Click here for detailed Theatre Directions

Is photography and/or recording devices allowed?
Absolutely not and this policy is strictly enforced. Please for the safety of the cast members, stage crew and the enjoyment of other patrons, no photography (flash or no flash) and/or recording devices are permitted.

Is smoking allowed?
Both our Theatres are smoke free buildings. Smoking of cigarettes is permitted outside the Theatres and we ask patrons to refrain from smoking cigars and pipes, as well as to have the courtesy of fellow patrons entering the Theatres.

How long are most performances?
Times vary by performance, please call 617-782-9393 to inquire about specific shows.

Can show merchandise be purchased?
Yes, most productions have show merchandise available for sale prior to and at the conclusion of each performance.

What is your child policy?
Most shows are appropriate for children 4 and up. However, all patrons, regardless of age must have a ticket to enter the Theatres.

What does the Facility/Education-Public Programming Fee do?
The Facility/Education-Public Programming fee is used for the general maintenance, up keep and improvements of our Theatres as well as and for our free educational outreach and public programs. Is accessible seating available?

Are program books available?
For most performances The Wang and Shubert Theatres distribute to each patron the house program, Playbill, free of charge. Also available at most performances, show program books are sold for a minimal fee.

When do the doors open prior to each performance?
The doors at The Wang and Shubert Theatre open 45 minutes before the scheduled performance time.

What is The Wang and Shubert Theatre's latecomers' policy?
Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the Production Company's seating policy.

What number can be left for the babysitter in case of an emergency?
An operator is on duty during all performances and can be reached at 617-482-9393, press 0. Patrons are asked to give sitters their seat locations so they can be found in the Theatres.

Do the Theatre's have gift certificates?
No. At this time The Wang and Shubert Theatres do not offer gift certificates.

Tickets

How can I purchase tickets to the Wang and Shubert Theatres?
You can purchase tickets by calling 866-348-9738, 24 hours a day, seven days a week (regular service charges apply). Citi Card is the preferred card of the Citi Performing Arts CenterSM, however all, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Diners Club cards are accepted. You may also purchase your tickets in person at our Box Offices, both open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Box Office accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Personal Checks (ten business days prior to the performance date), bank check or cash. How can I purchase the best seats?

How can I purchase tickets for a performance on a Sunday if the Box Office is only open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.?
The Box Office opens at least 2 hours prior to each performance regardless of the day. . Tickets are also available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week online at www.citicenter.org or by telephone at 866-348-9738.

Is there a ticket limit and if so, how can I purchase more than the limit?
Ticket limits vary by show and are determined by the promoter of each show.

Can tickets be ordered over the telephone with a credit card and then pay for them with cash at the Box Office?
No. If tickets are purchased by telephone, it will be billed directly to the customer's credit card account used.

How can I purchase tickets and have someone else pick them up?
When purchasing tickets over the telephone, give the operator the specific name of the person who will be picking up the tickets at the Box Office. The tickets will then be left at the Box Office under that name. All patrons will be asked to show an ID when picking up tickets at will call.

How can I replace my lost or stolen tickets?
Tickets purchased with a credit card or check can easily be replaced by going back to the point of purchase. If tickets were purchased via telephone, call our Customer Service at 1-800-543-4835, if purchased through Group Sales, please call our Group Sales Department at 617-532-1116, or if purchased at the Box Office, please call 617-482-9393. Please try to have the exact seat locations if you only lost a portion of the tickets.

If tickets were paid for in cash, it is extremely difficult to verify and unfortunately difficult to assist, however, please contact the Theatre Manager for other details. Proof of purchase is extremely important and taking care of this issue in advance of the performance date is helpful to all parties involved.

Can I purchase tickets over the telephone with the Box Office?
No. The Box Office does not sell tickets over the telephone. You can purchase your tickets at the Box Office in person only, Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or telephone at 866-348-9738, 24 hours a day, seven days a week (regular service and handling fees apply to all telephone orders).

How can I receive a refund or exchange on my tickets?
There are no refunds on ticket purchases. Exchanges are exclusively available to Members at the Patron level and higher and only within each show.This policy is strictly enforced and is a common policy with most Theaters.

What is your Student Rush, Rush or Senior Discount Ticket Policy?
The availability of Student Rush, Rush or Senior Discounts Tickets are decided by the production company and the policy varies from show to show. Please call the Theatre directly for more information at 617-482-9393. At the discretion of the show, Club Members may also be eligible for a ticket discount.

How can I find out when tickets will go on sale for a particular show?
Our Web site has the most up-to-date information; click here for show listings. All ticket sales are usually announced in The Boston Globe and/or The Boston Herald's Arts and Entertainment section and through other local radio and television stations. Join our Club for priority notice of shows and events.

What type of payment is accepted at the Box Office and/or on the telephone?
Citi card is the preferred card of the Citi Performing Arts Center. The Box Office accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express, cash and checks (ten business days prior to the performance date being purchased).

Where and when can I pick up my tickets from Will Call?
Will Call tickets are available at the Box Office one hour prior to curtain time. Please have your confirmation number, or the credit card used for the purchase and identification ready.

How do I purchase groups tickets?
To purchase group tickets (typically 10-20+ depending on show), call our Group Sales Department at 617-532-1116. They will be happy to assist you in purchasing tickets for your group.

Seating

Where is the Orchestra Pit?
The Orchestra Pit is located directly in front of the stage on the first level in both Theatres.

Where is the Orchestra?
The Orchestra is the entire first floor level after the Orchestra Pit in both Theatres.

Where are the Orchestra Boxes?
The Orchestra Boxes are located on the first level at the rear of the Orchestra section and are only available at The Wang Theatre.

Where is the Dress Circle (Loge)?
The Dress Circle (Loge) is box seats located on the second level on the left and right sides above the Orchestra in both Theatres. In the Shubert Theatre, these boxes are accessed via the Orchestra section.Dress Circle seats are generally not sold and reserved exclusively for Citi Performing Arts Center Members.

Where is the Mezzanine?
The Mezzanine is the third level above the Orchestra in The Wang Theatre. The Mezzanine includes the second level above the Orchestra at The Shubert Theatre.

Where is the Balcony?
The Balcony is the fourth level behind the Mezzanine in The Wang Theatre. In The Shubert Theatre the Balcony is the third level above the Mezzanine.

Accessibility

Do you sell accessible seating? Where are they located?
Both The Wang and Shubert Theatres sell accessible seating. Accessible seating is available at a variety of prices throughout the Theatres. In The Wang Theatre accessible seating is in certain areas of the Orchestra Floor, and Orchestra Boxes. In The Shubert Theatre accessible seating is in certain areas of the Orchestra.

How can I purchase accessible seating tickets to performances?
Accessible seating for patrons with disabilities and communication disorders can be purchased in person at the Box Office, open Monday-Saturday, 10:00am-6:00pm. Tickets can be purchased by telephone by calling 866-348-9738. Tickets for the hearing impaired can be purchased by TTY at 1-888-889-8527.

Does the Theatre offer ASL, audio-described or transliterated performances?
Whenever possible the Theatres try to offer ASL, audio-described or transliterated performances. Please call the Center for more information at 617-482-9393.

How soon before the performance should I purchase accessible seating?
The Citi Performing Arts Center strongly recommends that patrons purchase their tickets in advance to obtain the desired seat location. In the event that all non-accessible seat locations are sold out for a performance, accessible seating locations will be the last released to the general public.

Can I get a companion seat with my accessible seat?
Yes. Both Theatres offer companion seats along with accessible seating.

Do The Wang and Shubert Theatre each have an elevator?

How does Citi Performing Arts Center pay for disability access programs and facility upgrades?
Each year, a portion of Citi Performing Art Center's operating budget is allocated for Community Service Expenditure, which includes direct cash grants, performance underwriting and discounted Rental fees for local not-for-profit resident companies. We also include Access Programming, which includes ASL-interpreted and audio-described public performances for individuals who are deaf, blind or have communication disorders, and facility improvements which maintain physical access to the Center. Additional funding for Access Programming has been provided in the past by VSA Arts Massachusetts, the Bay State Council of the Blind, and various private foundations.

How can I make a donation to Citi Performing Arts Center?
Citi Performing Arts Center relies on the support of donors to continue to preserve the grandeur of its historic landmarks and develop new and diverse community programming.
