Explore personal stories and the stories of community members from the City Spotlights featured neighborhoods through performance. Help to create an original performance piece based on an examination of individual and community identities to perform on Saturday, May 16 at The Shubert Theatre.

BRIDGING THE GAP

(For ages 14 - Adult)

June 2009 for 2 weeks

Inspired by The Color Purple, teen participants will partner with elders from Boston communities to learn each other's stories. Be a part of the artistic alchemy when intergenerational stories collide - experience what happens to stories as they're passed down from generations through oral history, traditional expression and honoring family memories. After interviewing each other, participants will create an original piece and perform each other's stories through a showcase for family and friends.
